Oh Those Joneses! Do They Save For Retirement?
They are hard to keep up with! And believe me, I feel like we are trying hard sometimes too. Granted, we are doing pretty good for ourselves. But we also save a LOT for retirement. And sometimes I feel like the Joneses aren't.
It can be frustrating sometimes to see people we know buy things all the time. And the only thing I can wonder is: "For sure that was a great purchase, but what is your 401k balance?" or something lame like that.
In any event, it just gets a little frustrating sometimes.

I don't think the Joneses have anything left over to save for retirement. I know exactly what you mean when it comes to seeing people spend their money leaving you to wonder how they can afford their lifestyle.
Just remember, you'll be set for retirement and they'll have to start selling their stuff just to make ends meet.
this reminds me of a commercial I saw on tv, with a happy guy driving a brand new SUV talking about how he has the new SUV, a new 5 bedroom home, and how is life is so wonderful, and then smiling talking about how he's hoping not to go bankrupt and how he can't afford anything.
Image can only get you so far.
I often think the very same thing. I see people with much bigger homes, newer cars, always spending money....making the same as me, or less. But I think if they're saving, it's very minimal. I'll buy my sports car when I'm 60...paying cash.
